Located alongside the Brandenburg Gate, Hotel Adlon first opened its doors in 1907 and remained a top destination for the main protagonists of the Golden Twenties and onwards. Greta Garbo, Edison, Ford, Rockefeller, Einstein, Marlene Dietrich and Charlie Chaplin amongst many others were all guests at the iconic hotel.

This year the hotel underwent extensive renovations, and Studio Peascod was asked by Jagdfeld Design to create the backdrop to the glorious lobby bar.

The piece was inspired by the elephant fountain presented to the hotel by the Maharaja of Patiala in 1930 which is central to the lobby design.

Hand-dyed Japanese papers combined with 22 carat gold were used to create the 4 metre-long piece which features elephants, lotus flowers and frogs as seen on the fountain.
