Green of grey gold
private residence, London
Jonathan Reed commissioned Studio Peascod to create three large imposing mirrored panels, enveloped by copper verdigris surrounds, to hang above a grey lava stone bath.
The intricate textures and colours of the panels were achieved using a technique developed in the studio. Together with 22ct gold leaf, the panels feature real copper leaf that was chemically aged by hand to produce the rich verdigris shades. This process mimics the natural patina that occurs with copper when exposed to the elements over time.
The piece beautifully conveyed the poetics of age and history generating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, perfect for bathing.
