1930s Ballroom at the Adlon

The Ballroom, Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin
Jagdfeld Design

The current Hotel Adlon Kempinski was built on the site of the original Adlon Hotel.  During the “Golden Twenties” its prestigious guest list included Charlie Chaplin, Albert Einstein and Marlene Dietrich, making it one of Europe’s most famous hotels.

Studio Peascod was asked to create a piece for the newly refurbished hotel ballroom which is used for private functions and celebrations.  Jagdfeld Design’s inspiration came from an original 1920s drawing, featuring guests dancing and enjoying cocktails in the Adlon ballroom and embodies the atmosphere of the hotel in its heyday.  Emma recreated this spirit of vivacity and joie de vivre using five shades of high carat gold leaf, hand dyed Japanese washi papers and hand painted figures.
