Studio Peascod completed this large verre églomisé glass wall piece for a contemporary extension to a traditional Lakeland dry stone house, located on the banks of Lake Windermere.
Working closely with Manchester based architectural designers Li Lui Ltd, the piece was inspired by the panoramic views of the lake and Langdale Pikes, both visible through the building's large glass windows.
Positioned at the foot of a central steel staircase, the panel reflects both the stairs and the lake outside, creating a visual play suggestive of a pier leading into the water. An integrated LED frame around its perimeter transforms the piece at night.
Starting with ink brush drawings, the design uses reflection, opacity, texture and the ever-changing atmospheric conditions of the lakes which are reflected and amplified in the surface of the glass. The restrained colour pallet includes dusty pinks and aqua blues, anchored by a central gold swathe to complement the discreet interior decor of the room. The resulting effect is fresh, light and elemental.
