Translucent Fireplace

Private Residence, Taipei
Celia Chu Design Associates

Interior designer Celia Chu had the inspiration to create a translucent silver glass fireplace for an apartment in an exclusive contemporary high rise building in Taipei.  She envisaged a gas fire to be positioned between two panels of glass.

Studio Peascod’s design was based on traditional fireplace motifs, executed in a contemporary manner, using silver leaf to create both a mirrored and yet transparent surface.  The result is an elegant, almost ethereal centre piece, which is fittingly calm and cool in this sub-tropical setting.
